形态特征：一年生或越年生草本，秆直立丛生，具6-7节，高60-100厘米。叶长披针形，叶鞘松弛包茎，叶舌膜质，长0.1厘米。花序穗状直立，长5-10厘米（芒除外），宽1-1.5厘米，小穗常单生于穗轴节，含3-9小花，上部者不发育。颖果卵圆形至长圆形，浅褐色，外稃长圆状披针形，长8-10毫米，顶端具芒或无芒，内稃与外稃几等长。花期4～5月，果期5～6月。
